Channel settings

Monitored channels

Each row shows the platform and name, such as Kick · yourname, YouTube · @yourhandle, Rumble or Custom URL, with a bin button to remove it. A YouTube row with no key shows Add your API key below to see this channel’s chat in red. The Addbutton adds a channel, and it is off once you have four. At four, adding says You’re monitoring the maximum of 4 streams. How to fill in the box for each platform is in Getting started. Get your Rumble API link opens rumble.com/account/livestream-api.

YouTube Data API key (for chat) is hidden until you tap Show. A Save button appears when you change it, and a change you have not saved is also kept when you leave the screen.

Read aloud

The same options as the TTS long-press. See Read aloud.

Keep chat updating in the background

On to start. Keeps your channels’ chat connected, and read-aloud speaking, while you use other apps. It shows an ongoing notice while it works. It only keeps working when you have at least one channel that can show chat. Video tiles do not run in the background. They pause, and they jump back to live when you return.

If you turn it off, chat and read-aloud stop a few seconds after you leave Bro.

The notice. It reads Monitoring chat in the background, Playing an audio source, or both with a dot between. Tap it to open Bro. Its one button, Exit, stops chat, read-aloud and audio, closes the app and removes it from your recent apps. The notice cannot be swiped away. Swiping Bro out of your recent apps does not stop it while it is running, so use Exit. It starts only while Bro is on screen, so after your phone restarts, open Bro once.

Battery readout

Show battery stats
On to start. Shows battery, power and temperature next to the settings button, like 🔋 87% · -3.2W · 38°C. A ⚡ replaces the dot after the percentage while charging. Power is signed: minus is draining, plus is charging, and it reads 0.0W when they are about equal. Anything your phone cannot report is left out, and the whole readout disappears if nothing is available. It turns amber at 44°C and red at 48°C.
Use Fahrenheit
Off to start. Shows °F instead of °C.

Audio sources

Web pages that play sound on your phone while you monitor, such as an alert box or a text-to-speech page. Video tiles stay muted. You can add up to 12.

  1. Tap the Addbutton.
  2. Enter the Page URL (https://…) and, if you like, a Label (optional).
  3. Tap Add. It starts switched on.

Each row has a name, the address, an on and off switch and a bin button. You cannot edit an address. Remove it and add it again. A page that keeps crashing stops, and the row says so. Switch it off and on, or add it again, to retry. The pages play with sound on their own, reload when your connection changes between Wi-Fi and cellular, and keep playing in the background through the notice above. The Alerts button mutes them all at once. Addresses must start with https://, except for addresses on your own home network.

Import from Stream

Copies your settings from a Dual IRL Stream backup. Bro only reads a backup. It never makes one.

  1. In Dual IRL Stream, make a backup with Backup & restore and get the file onto this phone.
  2. Tap Choose Stream backup file and pick the .dirlbak file.
  3. Enter the backup’s password and tap Import.

It brings over one Kick channel, one Twitch channel, your Rumble link, your YouTube key and handle, the chat and read-aloud settings the two apps share, including banned words, the battery readout settings and your audio-only web pages. It leaves out Stream’s streaming settings and its Keep chat updating in the background switch. Bro keeps its own setting for that, which starts on. Anything the backup does not contain stays as it was. Imported channels count toward the limit of four. A YouTube video link from an old backup cannot be converted, so add that channel by hand. When it finishes, a line tells you what was applied and what was skipped. If part of it failed, Try again keeps the file.

App updates

Shows your version and checks for a newer one each time you open it. Check for updates checks again. Bro never installs anything. Open download page takes you to dualirl.com/bro in your browser, and a Beta install goes straight to the Beta download. If no browser opens, the link is copied instead.

About

Your version, a link to What’s new, and links to dualirl.com, Issues / feedback, Privacy policy and Open source licenses. The What’s new box appears by itself once after you update, unless you tick Don’t show this again. It shows the plain text of the changelog, so it may look rough.
